Patek Philippe introduced this model in 1968 and has been making it ever since.

According to Patek Philippe, this example was and sold in 2001.

The design of this model is said to be based on the golden ratio derived by the ancient Greek mathematicians using the ratio of 1/1.6181 that humans somehow find innately appealing.

This design has been produced in various metals, sizes, dial colors, and materials, and with different types of movements.

What really sets this example apart is that this model is the “Jumbo” version with the thin 240 self-winding movement that Patek is still using today in the current reference of the Ellipse.

This watch also features a beautiful blue sunburst “Sigma" dial. At the bottom of the dial where it says “Swiss Made” are two Sigma signs (one on each side), which signify that the hour markers and hands are made of gold.

The actual dial on this watch is made of gold too.

Patek uses a special chemical reaction to turn the dial blue.

his watch also comes with its original ellipse-shaped buckle, which is a cherry on top.

These ‘Jumbo’ Ellipse watches are great for both men and women.
