This is a 16710 GMT Master II “stick dial”. It’s known by collectors as a stick dial because the roman numerals in text “GMT-Master II” are in a sans serif font unlike all 16170 before it.
The 16710 was produced from 1989. The proposed model is a D series, produced in 2006 and sold in 2008 in France with the new dial launched in 2000 "SWISS MADE" (Superluminova).
The caliber used is 3185, based on the 3135 caliber that was used for the Submariner Date, Datejust, Sea-Dweller and Yacht-Master.
Launched in 1985, the 3185 caliber was the first movement to allow the GMT hand to be configured independently of the current time by the crown. It allows a semi fast date change.
The “Stick dial” represents the transition from the 3185 caliber to the 3186 caliber.
It is COSC certified: The official offices of the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute) were founded in 1973 in La Chaux-de-Fonds and it is an independent organization that guarantees the Swiss manufacturing tradition of precision.
The sapphire crystal is scratch-resistant and the 6 mm Twinlock crown provides double protection against water and dust infiltration.
The bracelet is also the new Oysterlock bracelet launched in 2000, reference 78790A SEL with Solid End Link.
Delivered full set. The warranty has punched serial numbers.
It is fair to say that the 16710 GMT-Master II “Stick dial” is already starting to become a collectors target.
